Gemini Turns 35: Alexis’ Guide To Aging Well with Anej

Now, you may remember my blog from last June, “Gemini Season,” and once again, it’s almost that time of year. Turning 35 has me thinking a lot about what it really means to age gracefully in this day and age. With endless options from invasive procedures to non-invasive treatments, injectables, lasers, products, and surgeries, we have more tools than ever at our disposal when it comes to preserving youth.

Having worked in the spa industry for nearly 15 years, I’ve had the opportunity to learn about just about all of them. And while I’ve been incredibly lucky with good genes (thank you mom and dad), I’ve also had access to some of the best treatments and products out there (thank you Jena).

To this day, I’ve never had Botox, fillers, threads, cosmetic surgery, or lasers of any kind. Am I against them? No. Do I feel like I need them right now? Also no. And honestly, I’d love to keep it that way for as long as possible, maybe forever. That said, I’m very intentional about taking care of my skin. For me, aging well is less about chasing perfection and more about maintaining healthy, balanced, glowing skin in a way that still feels like me.

At Anej Skin Studio, that philosophy is really at the heart of everything we do. We specialize in helping clients age gracefully at every stage, whether you’re 35 or 85. There’s something really beautiful about creating routines and treatments that work with your skin instead of against it, and that approach has shaped the way I view aging as a whole.

"For me, aging well is less about chasing perfection and more about maintaining healthy, balanced, glowing skin in a way that still feels like me."

One of my favorite anti-aging treatments at Anej is Le Lift, one of our Biologique Recherche facials that focuses heavily on facial lymphatic massage. Lymphatic massage is incredible for reducing puffiness, improving circulation, and creating a more sculpted, refreshed look overall. Paired with Biologique Recherche’s highly active ingredients, the treatment leaves my skin feeling lifted, balanced, and exactly where it needs to be.

If you’re looking for something with even more visible lifting and tightening, Full Spectrum IonixLight is truly next level. The treatment combines microcurrent, LED light therapy, oxygen infusion, and ultrasound technology all in one session. Together, these modalities work to tighten facial muscles, stimulate collagen and elastin production, improve circulation, reduce puffiness, and soften fine lines and wrinkles. It’s completely non-invasive, requires no downtime, and leaves the skin looking firmer, brighter, smoother, and incredibly refreshed.

I’ll admit it, I’m a sun lover. Summer is my favorite season, and I’ll choose a beach vacation over almost anything. I don’t mind the heat and could easily spend an entire day outside laying out. But SPF is non-negotiable for me. I’m diligent about reapplying, and if I’m outdoors for long periods of time, I always wear a hat to keep the sun off my face. By the end of summer, my body is usually several shades darker than my face, and I’m perfectly okay with that. It means I’m doing something right. If there’s one thing that truly matters when it comes to aging well, it’s protecting your skin from the sun. My current favorite SPF is the one from Isdin. It’s mineral-based, lightweight, and, most importantly, doesn’t break me out the way many sunscreens do.

My skincare routine is constantly evolving depending on the season and whatever my skin happens to need at the time. Thankfully, Jena is always guiding me toward what I should be incorporating next. In my twenties, my routine was focused on hydration and achieving that healthy glow. Now, in my mid-thirties, I’ve naturally shifted toward products that support collagen production and target fine lines before they deepen.

One of the newer additions to my routine has been Serum Elastine, specifically for the fine lines on my forehead. It helps improve elasticity while smoothing the appearance of lines and wrinkles by supporting elastin synthesis, the protein responsible for keeping skin firm and resilient. I also mask once a week with Valmont’s Prime Renewing Pack, which is one of those products that instantly makes you look more rested and refreshed. It brightens the complexion, softens signs of fatigue, and helps smooth everything out in just minutes. The combination of Triple DNA and Valmont’s version of PDRN is basically the dream anti-aging cocktail.

Supplements have also become something newer in my routine. While they aren’t a cure for aging, they may help fill nutritional gaps and support a healthier lifestyle when combined with good sleep, exercise, and balanced nutrition. Something I’m sure we could all need a little help with. Glutathione is often called the body’s “master antioxidant,” playing a vital role in detoxification, immune health, and protecting cells from oxidative stress. Cymbiotika’s formula uses a liposomal delivery system, which helps protect glutathione through digestion and improves absorption, making it more effective than standard supplements. I take this in the morning on an empty stomach (best to do at least 20min before a meal). I am not a huge breakfast or coffee person, I see coffee more as a treat, but I am very good when it comes to drinking water throughout the day. Another fave is Cybiotika’s Liquid Colostrum. Colostrum is known as nature’s first food. It’s a nutrient-rich superfood packed with essential vitamins, antibodies, and immune-boosting compounds that support overall health. I take this mid-day at lunch to space them out and can sometimes be sensitive taking things on an empty stomach. While I know my Glutathione will help me age in reverse (fingers crossed) I see a plumping effect from the Colostrum.

At 35, I’m realizing that aging gracefully isn’t about looking frozen in time, it’s about feeling confident in the skin you’re in and taking care of it in a way that feels authentic to you. Whether that means embracing advanced treatments, keeping things simple, or finding a balance somewhere in between, there’s no right or wrong approach. For me, it’s about consistency, prevention, and choosing what enhances rather than changes who I am.
