In 2009, after about five years of being an esthetician, I read a book that was trending at the time that truly inspired me to change the way I lived. I was originally trained in an Ayurvedic approach to skincare during school, and then went on to learn European methods while working in a spa setting, but that moment shifted everything for me.
I didn’t just adjust my skincare philosophy—I transformed my entire life and our household.
I started shopping at Whole Foods before it was what it is today, before it was even acquired by Amazon. Everything in our home became organic or “clean.” Friends would mock me saying “oohhh is it organic?” From our laundry detergent to our pets’ food. When I was pregnant, I wouldn’t even polish my nails. I breastfed my son until he was two years old. It was never something I pushed on anyone—it simply became who we were. I was a cruncher before it was cool. And this is something we live by at Anej. Those lemons in your spa water are organic. That toilet paper in our potties is bleach free.
And I want to say something important: I don’t judge, and I don’t want to be judged. If you know me, you know I love experiencing life, trying new restaurants, enjoying a dirty martini. But at my core, I’ve always believed in living as clean and intentionally as possible.
So when clean beauty began to emerge into the mainstream, it felt very natural to me. At the time, I was training and forecasting at my job and started bringing in brands that aligned with this philosophy such as Sunpotion, Tammy Fender, Agent Nateur, Herbivore, Ayuna, Joanna Vargas, The Beauty Chef and many more. For me, it wasn’t a trend it was already my lifestyle. What made it exciting was seeing brands that were not only clean, but truly effective. It felt like the best of both worlds.
Around that time, I also began studying gua sha.

If you’ve seen my earlier videos (circa 2017), you know I didn’t even pronounce it correctly at first. But I kept going. I practiced, studied, and refined my technique—often with Alexis as my muse/guinea pig. Eventually, I was asked by Skin Gym to create a tutorial and was featured on their Instagram, which was such a cool moment at that time in my career.
For those unfamiliar, gua sha is an ancient practice rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine. It translates to “scraping” (“gua”) and “stagnant energy” (“sha”), referring to a technique that stimulates circulation, releases stagnation, and supports the body’s natural healing processes. When adapted for the face, it becomes a powerful treatment that supports lymphatic drainage, improves circulation, relaxes facial tension, and enhances overall skin function.
At one point, I reached out to an esthetician in NYC who later became very well known. I remember thinking, whoever trained her—I’m going to send my team there one day when I have my own studio. And eventually at Anej, I did. That training became the foundation of our gua sha work—before we sought out something even deeper and more aligned with our philosophy.
Not long after, we launched our own gua sha stone—designed by Alexis—which made it even more meaningful.
But I knew the next step was to go deeper and learn from the true source.
When I discovered Tania had started the Nei Wei method, I was immediately drawn in.
Tania, who was raised in London and has spent the past twenty years in Paris working at the highest level with Biologique Recherche, is someone I’ve always considered a mastermind. She has an extraordinary understanding of the skin and some of the best hands in the industry. I would watch her in awe at training seminars.
Through her work, she began witnessing incredible results from gua sha and kept hearing about a woman whose work was producing truly transformative outcomes. That woman was Gigi, who practices through the lens of Traditional Chinese Medicine, working intentionally along meridian points to support healing from within, restore balance, and optimize the way the skin and body function as a whole.
Gigi’s method is also deeply intentional in its design. She uses handcrafted wooden tools, each one specifically shaped for different areas of the face, neck, and décolleté. The use of wood is purposeful—it comes from nature, carrying a grounding, organic quality that aligns with the philosophy of treating the body holistically. Each tool is made by her, which adds a level of care, precision, and authenticity that you can truly feel in the treatment. Each treatment is accompanied by a tea ceremony, which deserves its own story. One we'll share soon.
Together, they created the Nei Wei method.
Nei Wei translates to “inner beauty,” and that philosophy is what sets this work apart. It’s not just about sculpting or creating a temporary lift. It’s about working with the body as a whole—supporting circulation, lymphatic flow, and energetic pathways to create real, lasting skin health.
The results are not just cosmetic—they are deeply therapeutic.
And this is where our story takes an even more meaningful turn.

Anej Skin Studio is proud to be the first studio in the United States to be officially accredited in the Nei Wei method. We were personally selected because of our principles, our philosophy, and our commitment to doing things the right way not the fast way.
This was not something we took lightly.
Our entire team dedicated themselves to this process. We completed extensive pre-training, hosted Tania in-studio for intensive hands-on educational days, and continued with rigorous post-training to ensure every detail was mastered.
They worked incredibly hard not just to achieve this accreditation, but to perfect the experience for our clients. The results speak for themselves.
Because at Anej, it’s never about adding something just to say we offer it. It’s about refining, elevating, and delivering something that truly makes a difference.
And this aligns perfectly with everything we believe in.
Anej is not just a skin studio—it’s something I envisioned long ago. A place where women can come to feel taken care of. A place of peace, intention, and elevated experience. A place built on over twenty-one years of understanding what truly works.
This works.
And this is simply the next evolution of what we’ve always done.
It’s my way of continuing to bring you the very best.
At Anej Skin Studio, we create space for balance.
